LASIK Surgery

At Shiloh Eye Care, we offer LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) and PRK (Photorefractive keratectomy) as advanced and effective options for vision correction. LASIK and PRK are popular procedures that can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses, providing patients with newfound visual freedom and convenience.

The procedure is performed by our experienced and skilled ophthalmologists using state-of-the-art laser technology at the renowned University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Laser Center for Vision Care. Before proceeding with LASIK or PRK, our team conducts a thorough evaluation of your eyes to ensure you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. This evaluation includes measuring the thickness and shape of your cornea, assessing your overall eye health, and determining the extent of your vision prescription.

During the LASIK procedure, a thin flap is created on the cornea's surface using a precise femtosecond laser. This flap is then lifted, exposing the underlying corneal tissue. The excimer laser is then used to reshape the cornea, precisely removing small amounts of tissue to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. PRK utilizes the same technology but the top layer of tissue is removed in place of the flap creation.

The reshaping process is computer-controlled and personalized to your unique visual prescription and eye anatomy. The entire procedure is typically completed within minutes for each eye, and most patients experience minimal discomfort.

After the LASIK procedure, the corneal flap is gently repositioned, and the eye begins to heal naturally. The cornea's reshaped curvature allows light to focus properly on the retina, resulting in improved vision.

Following the procedure, our team will provide detailed post-operative instructions and schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure optimal healing. While many patients experience improved vision almost immediately after LASIK, it is essential to follow our recommendations to achieve the best possible outcome. PRK patients often achieve the same results but with a longer recovery time.

At Shiloh Eye Care, we prioritize patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction throughout the LASIK/PRK journey. Our goal is to provide you with outstanding results and a positive experience, offering you the opportunity to enjoy a life with clearer vision and reduced dependence on glasses or contacts. If you are interested in LASIK or PRK and want to learn more about the procedure, we welcome you to schedule a consultation with our expert team to explore your vision correction options.
